The Georgia Board of Education is awarding nine school districts a portion of $24 million in federal literacy grants.

Superintendent John Barge said the nine districts that received the Striving Reader Comprehensive Literacy Grant represent 63 schools and centers.

He said the grants will allow schools to build literacy plans for their students to help ensure they graduate from high school and are prepared for college and careers.

The nine districts are: Fulton County, Clarke County, Bartow County, Jeff Davis County, Morgan County, Jefferson County, Rome City, Brantley County and Cartersville City.
